The beauty of these gardens has attracted the attention of experts across borders and has made their name on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Fin Garden (Bagh-e Fin) and its complex is one of Iran's gardens, located 2 km from downtown Kashan and at the end of the current Amir Kabir Street. Fin Bath, located in the garden, is where Nasser al-Din Shah assassinated Amir Kabir, his chancellor, in 1852.
The King's Garden or Fin Garden (Bagh-e Fin) may be the most infamous garden in history, every time his name comes, the story of Amir Kabir's brutal murder and his bloodbath is remembered. This garden is a beautiful example of an Iranian garden, an ancient mansion next to the Soleymaniyeh Spring (Cheshme Soleymaniyeh) Mansion located in Fin Garden. Having a cozy tea house (café) in this garden allows you to create happy hours for yourself, along with enjoying the historical effects.
The current Fin Garden building has been attributed to the era of Shah Abbas I and the Iranian cultural heritage considers Ghiaseddin Jamshid Kashani as this garden’s designer. However, academic sources designate Sheikh Bahai as this garden designer. Construction work on this garden continued during the reign of Shah Safi and Shah Abbas II and culminated. The entrances to the hall building, the Safavid Koshk and one of the baths were the product of this period. During the Karim Khan Zand period and several earthquakes, gardens and buildings were repaired and Karimkhani backyard was added. During the reign of Fath Ali Shah Qajar, many parts were added to the garden. Almost the rest of the buildings in Fin garden are all products of this era. During the Pahlavi period, the Kashan National Museum was built on the ruins of Nezam al-Dowleh, as a building between the library and bathrooms, and also other buildings were repaired.
From the viewpoint of architecture, Kashan Fin Garden has complied with all the standard principles of presence garden construction. What stands out most in this garden is the presence of water and trees, which are actually vibrant and fascinating elements of this place, and have been able to create interesting space alongside the Complex buildings as fixed architectural elements. One of the important pillars used in the design of this garden was the symmetry preservation, which was particularly important at that time, but was gradually diminished as the kings ruled the city. The most asymmetry in this garden also occurred during the Safavid period.
In Kashan Fin garden, there are one hundred and sixty holes in the pond, each representing a flower of carpet. The function of these cavities is that if the first cavity acts as a spout, the second cavity performs water suction. Therefore, there are about eighty fountain holes and eighty suction holes in these ponds that help to equal inlet and outlet water to prevent overflow. Today, the overflow water of this pond passes through the garden paths.
It was built during the time of Mohammad Shah Qajar, as well as the boiling dock and the king's chamber, and today it is known as Twelve Fountains pond. Inside the pond there are fountains that indicate the Iranian garden architecture and architectural masterpiece in the distant past that creates a vertical flow of water in the pond without any external force.
There are two baths in the garden called Royal and Safavid. The Safavid bath was built in the 882solar year and the royal bath was built during Fath Ali Shah Qajar. The Safavid bath is where the beloved Iranian Chancellor, Amir Kabir was killed. The bathrooms have beautiful traditional tiles that are worth seeing.
In the center of this garden is a remarkable mansion called Safavid Koshk. If we lift our heads, we can see its artistic ceiling sketches. The walls are also full of fascinating paintings.
This palace (The King’s Chamber) is one of the most beautiful places in the garden. Its windows are adorned with colored glass and the light shining through it becomes a thousand colors. The boiling dock/pond is outside the palace and in front of it, where we can see the water boiling and rising from the ground.
